Leading law firm K3 Legal is celebrating its litigators getting into the finals of the 2017 NZ Law Awards.
They’re in the running to be the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Specialist Law Firm of the Year, with the winner set to be announced at a ceremony at the Langham Hotel, Auckland, on Thursday 23 November.
“We’re delighted to have been named a finalist in the 2017 Law Awards and it’s a testament to the strength of our litigation team, led by Brent O’Callahan, who has had some major wins in the past year,” says K3 Director Mark Kirkland.
He highlighted two cases in particular – Kidd vs van Heeren and Auckland Council vs Man O’ War.
In the first case, the Supreme Court ruled against Huka Lodge owner Alex van Heeren and said he must pay his former business partner Michael Kidd at least $35 million.
The second case revolved around the classification of 1,925 hectares of Man O’ War Station at the eastern end of Waiheke Island as an Outstanding Natural Landscape. “After eight years and three court cases, K3 Legal, acting for Auckland Council, prevailed in a Court of Appeal decision which will help protect New Zealand’s natural beauty,” says Kirkland.
The highly-regarded law firm changed its name earlier this year to K3 Legal and works alongside K3 Accounting Ltd and K3 Consulting Ltd under the K3 brand.
